There will be tourism relations between India and Japan and strong

The fourth meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on cooperation in tourism between India and Japan was held in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chairmanship by Mugdha Sinha, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Haraikawa Naoya, Commissioner of Japan Tourism (JTA).

Delhi: The fourth meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on cooperation in tourism between India and Japan was held in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chairmanship by Mugdha Sinha, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Haraikawa Naoya, Commissioner of Japan Tourism (JTA). Officers and private stakeholders of both countries participated in this meeting, including representatives of Airlines, tourism and travel associations and government institutions.

Major organizations included Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), JTTRI, Japan Airlines and ANA on behalf of Japan. The Indian delegation included Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATOs), Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI), Association of Buddhist Tour Operators like Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATOs), Outbound Tour Operators, Association of Buddhist Tour Operators. The purpose of the meeting was to increase the new paths of working together and tourism relations between the two nations.

Emphasis on making tourist places of both countries more attractive

Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat organized a dinner to welcome the Japanese delegation. The co-heads of the two countries exchanged notes on the profiles of visitors and discussed the data of tourists traveling between the two countries, including tourists visiting Buddhist sites to make suitable policy to make tourist destinations more attractive to millions of tourists. Japanese Ambassador to India Excellent Ono Keachichi emphasized strong cultural relations between the two countries and the mutual benefits of rich tourism.

During the meeting, the main discussion focused on increasing bilateral tourism, which included initiatives such as promoting Buddhist sites in India for Japanese tourists, improving air connectivity and encouraging Japanese students’ visit in the country. The meeting also discussed strategies to take advantage of the participation of media and influential people to increase private sector participation and increase the number of tourists. The delegation of both sides shared valuable information and discussed new investment opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector between the two countries.

During the meeting, a more vibrant tourism system is expected to develop a more lively tourism system from the cooperative spirit and commitment displayed by both sides which will contribute significantly to the economic and cultural exchange between India and Japan. India also informed the Japanese delegation about the possibility of partnership with Japanese tourists in recently created Incredible India Digital Portal to create a partnership with them to create a specially cuisted journey program for Japanese tourists.

It was also indicated that the Ministry of Tourism is going to start the incredible India mobile app soon. The meeting was positively concluded that stressed the commitment to continue mutual negotiations, increase cooperation and use tourism as a bridge to increase bilateral relations and mutual prosperity. India also informed the Japanese delegation about its plan to attend the World Expo to be held in Osaka from 22 to 28 September 2025 to make elaborate efforts to increase the number of foreign tourists in the country.
