New Delhi News: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the doubling of the railway line in Bihar. Doubling will improve rail traffic and will speed up development. The electoral state has approved doubling of 104 km long Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya single railway line section in Bihar, which is about Rs 2,192 crore. Announcing the decision on Wednesday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the project will cover four districts of Bihar and increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 104 kilometers. Assembly elections will be held in Bihar later this year. Vaishnav said that doubling will also provide rail connectivity to major sites like Rajgir (Shanti Stupa), Nalanda, Pavapuri, which will attract pilgrims and tourists from across the country.
1,434 villages will get benefit
A government press statement said that multi-tracking projects will increase contact with about 1,434 villages and about 13.46 lakh population and two aspirational districts (Gaya and Nawada). The statement said that this is an essential route to transport items like coal, cement, clinker, fly ash. As a result of capacity enlargement works, additional freight of 26 MTPA (million tonnes per year) will be traffic. Underlining its environmental benefits, it states that Railways, being an environment-friendly and energy-efficient means of transport, will help achieve climate goals and reduce the country’s logistics costs, reduce oil imports (5 million liters) and reduce the CO2 emission (24 million kg), which is equivalent to planting one crore trees. The statement further states that increased line capacity will improve mobility, which will provide better efficiency and service credibility to Indian Railways.
Employment opportunities will increase
The government note highlighted the promotion of infrastructure with this announcement and said that the multi-tracking proposal would make operations easier and reduce congestion, which will lead to the necessary infrastructure development on the busiest sections of Indian Railways. It states that these projects are in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new India view, which will make the people of the region ‘self -reliant’ through widespread development in the region, which will increase their employment/self -employment opportunities. Railway officials said that the projects have been planned on the PM-Matti Shakti National Master Plan, which focuses on increasing multi-model connectivity and logistic efficiency through integrated plan and stakeholder consultation.
