All the devotees are from Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. There was chaos among the family members after the accident. The collision was so severe that the Bolero was blown to pieces. There was a jam at the spot after the accident. There was a long queue of vehicles on both sides of the road. Police reached the spot after receiving the information and ended the jam by removing the accident vehicles. The police admitted the injured to a nearby hospital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. Police said that on Thursday morning, a Bolero carrying devotees to Ayodhya collided with a tractor-trolley, in which three devotees were killed and eight others were seriously injured.

Accident on Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway

The accident occurred near Kalyan Bhadarsa village on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway at around 5 am. Chitrasen Patel (50), a resident of Mauganj in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, was coming to Ayodhya with 10 members of his family to have darshan of Ramlala. Manoj Sharma, in-charge of Purakalandar police station, said that 11 people from Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh were going to Ayodhya for the darshan of Lord Ram. During this time, due to the driver dozing off, the Bolero went into the opposite lane and had a head-on collision with a tractor-trolley. The station in-charge said that eight people traveling in the Bolero fell out of the vehicle after the collision. All the injured were taken to the nearby community health centre. Later they were admitted to the district hospital, where doctors said that the condition of some people was critical. Sharma said that three devotees trapped in the Bolero died on the spot.

Yogi gave instructions for proper treatment of the injured

Policemen immediately reached the accident site with the help of local people. Police removed both the vehicles from the spot and started investigation. It is not clear whether the tractor-trolley was moving or stationary at the time of the accident. Police said that it is being investigated. In the accident, Bolero rider Chitrasen’s daughter Ankita Patel (25), Mahendra Mani Patel’s wife Mirabai (25) and driver Ram Yash Mishra (50) died on the spot. While Chitrasen, his wife Chandrakala (45), sons Tanuj Patel (20) and Deepak Kumar Patel (35), Saroj Mani Patel’s wife Kusum (35) and son Ashish Patel (23), Harikesh’s five-year-old son Shivansh Patel and wife Shashi Patel (30) were seriously injured. An official spokesperson said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families. Yogi directed the officials to ensure quick relief measures and proper treatment of the injured.
