In fact, this time on August 27, 2025 i.e. Wednesday, both the big stock exchange, National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will be closed. The reason for this is, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, which will be celebrated with great pomp across the country. Due to the holiday of Ganesh Chaturthi, this week investors will get only four days trading session. That is, market lovers will also have to take a little break from keeping an eye on their portfolio on this day.

Why is the market closed on Ganeshotsav?

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp in Maharashtra as well as all over the country. In such a situation, there is a holiday not only in temples and houses, but also in financial institutes. This is the reason that on August 27, everyone from equity, derivatives and currency to commodity market will be closed.

MCX and NCDEX condition

There will be no full day holiday in MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange). That is, trading can be done here for hours. Apart from this, NCDEX (National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange) will remain closed for the whole day. Talk about the next big holiday of the stock market, then it will be on the day of Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October. This time there is also Dussehra on 2 October.

Holiday list

After the holiday of October 2 and Dussehra, the stock market will be closed on 21 October-diwali (Lakshmi Pujan). However, the market will be closed throughout the day on Diwali, but Muhurta trading will be done in the evening, as it happens every year.

December 25- Market will be closed on Christmas day.

Effect on banks too

Not only the stock exchange, but in many states, banks will also be closed on August 27. This includes cities like Mumbai, Belapur, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Panaji and Vijayawada. However, this holiday will not be applicable in all states. Well, according to BSE, on August 27, all segments related to equity, currency, commodity, corporate bonds, gold respectives, derivatives and mutual funds will be completely closed. In such a situation, investors are advised to plan their trading and investment in advance, so that there is no problem.
