Donald Trump announces 25 per cent tariff on India: US President Donald Trump has announced 25 percent tariff on India from August 1. According to the news agency PTI, amidst the signs of deadlock in the ongoing conversation between the two countries on the bilateral trade agreement, US President Donald Trump announced to impose tariffs. Trump announced the tariff, while proclaiming India’s high tariffs, “most” military equipment and energy from Russia, as well as “disgusting non-monetary trade obstacles”.

‘Trade deficit with India is very high’

US President Donald Trump said that India will pay “25 percent tariff and fine” from August 1, and also said that “our trade deficit with India is very high.” However, the US President described India as his “friend” in a social media post. He said that India is our friend, but in the last few years we have done relatively less trade with them because their tariffs are very high, among the “most” in the world, and they have “the most rigid and disgusting” non-moodric trade obstacles. Apart from this, they have always bought most of their military equipment from Russia and are Russia’s biggest energy buyers with China, at such a time everyone wants Russia to stop murders in Ukraine.

India will have to pay a fine

The US President said, “Everything is not right! So India will pay 25 percent tariffs from August 1 and a fine for the above.” There has been no immediate response from India on Trump’s announcement. An American team is going to visit India next month for the next round of talks on the proposed bilateral trade agreement. India and US teams completed the fifth round of talks for the agreement in Washington last week. Rajesh Aggarwal, the chief negotiator of India and Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce and Brandon Lynch, assistant American trade representative for South and Central Asia, held discussions. After this tariff announcement of US President Donald Trump, the Congress has also started surrounding the central government. Let us know that Trump is constantly saying that the war between Russia and Ukraine should also stop. Trump is also taking credit to stop the tension after Operation Sindoor between India and Pakistan. However, the Government of India has dismissed his claims outright.
