When and why does a tsunami come?
The tsunami is a huge sea wave that suddenly comes in the coastal areas. It usually arises due to earthquakes at the ocean floor. When the layers of the earth below the sea slide and there is a heavy movement in the water, high waves are formed. Apart from this, volcanic eruptions, landslides or meteor shower can also cause tsunami. The tsunami comes when these waves travel fast in the sea and reach near the coast and become high and destructive. These waves are small and sharp in the deep sea, but due to the depth of water on the coast, their height increases. These waves can enter internal areas for several kilometers, causing heavy destruction. The main reason for the tsunami arrival is natural disasters, which are out of the control of humans. It destroys houses, roads, and crops, as well as causing heavy losses of life and property. Tsunami warning systems and awareness can reduce losses. Those living in coastal areas should be prepared for such a disaster.
How much is the speed and height of tsunami waves?
During tsunami, the speed of waves is up to 800 kilometers per hour. However, the speed of waves decreases until reaching near the coast, but their height and power increases. A strong collision on the coast of these waves also causes damage to life and property. If we talk about height, then these waves can be up to 10 to 18 meters high. Suppose these waves are like a vigorous wall on the water.
