Turkiye Earthquake: An earthquake has occurred in three areas in Türkiye and its intensity has been measured at 6.1 on the reactor scale. However, no casualties have been reported so far but 22 people have been injured.
Tur-I Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Türkiye on Monday and this earthquake leveled three buildings. At present, there has been no news of any casualty due to the earthquake. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency, this earthquake of 6.1 magnitude was centered in Sindirgi city of Balikesir province. It arrived at a depth of 5.99 kilometers at around 11:48 pm local time. The earthquake was felt in Istanbul and the surrounding provinces of Bursa, Manisa and Izmir. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that at least three vacant buildings and a two-storey shop collapsed in Sindargi.
22 people were injured
Home Minister Yerlikaya said that these buildings had been damaged in the earlier earthquake. Also, Balıkesir Governor Ismail Ustaoglu said that 22 people fell from buildings and were injured due to physical and mental effects caused by the earthquake. Sindargi District Administrator Dogukan Koyuncu said that till now we have not received any news of any loss of life, but we are keeping a close watch on the incident. According to the report of HaberTurk Television, many people are not going to their houses even after returning to their homes. During this time, there was heavy rain in the areas where the incident took place and the government opened the doors of mosques, schools and sports halls for such people.
Earthquakes keep coming around Balikesir
At the same time, in August, an earthquake of 6.1 magnitude occurred in Sindirgi in which one person died and dozens of others were injured. Since then, small earthquakes have been occurring in the area around Balikesir and have been showing their impact. Let us tell you that in 2023, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude had taken the lives of more than 53 thousand people in Turkey and lakhs of buildings were turned into piles of debris. This earthquake shook not only Turkey but the entire world. During this period, more than 6 thousand people were killed in the northern parts of neighboring Syria. The video of the earthquake that occurred in 2023 had shaken the common people and this was the reason why countries around the world started sending help to Türkiye.
