Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol told the Rajya Sabha that four helicopters accidents have occurred during the Char Dham Yatra this year. It is believed that the opposition can target it.
Four helicopter accidents during Char Dham Yatra: This year, there have been four helicopter cracks during the Char Dham Yatra, which was informed by the Central Government. According to official data, six helicopter cracks have occurred during the Char Dham Yatra in the last five years, out of which four accidents have occurred till June this year. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Monday that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has started additional surveillance and security audit of helicopter operations for the Char Dham Yatra. Although. The government has not given information about the deaths in helicopter accidents or the damage caused by it.
When did the incidents happen?
During the Char Dham Yatra, one accident occurred in 2022 and 2023, while there was no accident in 2021 and 2024. However, according to the data shared by the minister, there have been four helicopter accidents till June this year. All the four accidents that occurred this year are being investigated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The minister said that the DGCA has also directed all stakeholders to ensure compliance of security criteria for Char Dham Yatra, including entry control, improvement in parking system, regulating slot allocation, increasing pilot training and ensuring strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Six people were killed in the helicopter accident on May 8 and a preliminary report by the AAIB found that the main rotor blade of the helicopter collided with a fiber cable passing above, after which he fell down from the hill and hit a tree.

Char Dham Yatra has special religious and spiritual significance in Hinduism. The yatra is the pilgrimage of the four holy pilgrimage centers of Uttarakhand – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are located in the lap of the Himalayas. Millions of devotees complete this journey every year. Security of people going to Char Dham Yatra is also a big challenge and every year proper arrangements are made by the governments so that they do not have any problem. This journey is very important in Hinduism. It is believed that after the information given by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol in the Rajya Sabha, the opposition political parties can surround the central government on the issue of security of Char Dham Yatra. However, no reaction has been revealed by the opposition in this regard at the moment.
