Jagannath and Hanuman Story: There is a temple of Jagannath form of Lord Vishnu, the creator of the world, in Puri, Odisha. People all over India and especially Odisha have deep faith in this temple. Every year a huge Rath Yatra is taken out here, in which Hindus living abroad also take part. At a short distance from this temple, there is also a temple of Vishnu devotee Hanuman, which is known as Bedi Wale Hanuman Temple. Many people do not know that Lord Jagannath had tied Hanuman ji with chains here, hence he is still bound in chains. Let us know the whole story.

Sea God came to visit

There is a sacred connection between the Jagannath temple and the Hanuman temple. According to the legend, once all the gods and goddesses came to Puri to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. Along with them humans and Gandharva also reached Puri Dham. Seeing everyone in Puri, the sea god also had a desire to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. The sea god also followed Jagannath temple, due to which Puri Dham got submerged in water. Due to this the devotees started facing problems. Public life became disorganized.

Hanuman is protecting Puri Dham

Seeing such condition of Puri Dham, Lord Jagannath sent his devotee Hanuman to stop the sea. Due to fear of Hanuman ji, Samudra Dev could not enter the temple. In this way Hanuman ji protected Puri Dham for some time. But whenever there was bhajan kirtan of Lord Jagannath, he would leave his place and go to the temple. At that time even the sea got a chance to enter the temple. To find a solution to this, Lord Jagannath tied Hanuman ji in chains on the sea shore, so that he could not go anywhere from there. In this way, even today Hanuman, bound in chains, is protecting Puri Dham.

Shackles are a symbol of duty and devotion

Lord Jagannath did not bind Hanuman ji in chains to punish him, but to protect Puri Dham. Therefore, these chains are not seen as a punishment, but as a bond of duty and devotion. Devotees who visit Jagannath temple also visit Hanuman temple. The fame of this temple has spread far and wide.
