As soon as Mother Parvati did this, there was crisis in the whole world. Life started ending everywhere, people started suffering from hunger. Even the gods started yearning for food. Lord Shiva also became distraught with hunger.

Lord Shiva asked for alms

Seeing the world being destroyed, Mother Parvati incarnated in the form of Mother Annapurna in Kashi. Mother took incarnation with Akshaya Patra in her hand, in which food never ends. Seeing the mother, Lord Shiva came to her to beg for food. Mother gave them food. Thus Lord Shiva accepted that food has the greatest importance. Mother Annapurna donated food to everyone on earth from Akshaya Patra. In this way, Mother Annapurna, the goddess of food, was born and she sustained life in the world.
