1964 storm: When the whole settlement is destroyed
A devastating cyclone, which came on the night of 21-22 December 1964, completely destroyed the city. More than 100 people were killed in this disaster and the entire settlement including the railway line was submerged. The government declared the region “inhuman liability” and since then the city has been deserted. Now there is only ruins, broken churches, railway stations and debris.
