What did the railway spokesperson say?
Meanwhile, a railway spokesperson said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains between Katra and Srinagar on June 6, rail tracks and coaches are happening rapidly in Jammu and Kashmir. These trains connect Kashmir to the country’s rail network. The spokesperson said, “Apart from new railway services, the opening of this (Kashmir) line has also led to a basic change in the maintenance capacity of rail tracks in the valley. Due to this railway link, the movement of track maintenance machines in Kashmir has been possible.” He said that unlike first manual maintenance, now maintenance is being done with modern machines. This is improving the quality of the tracks significantly. To strengthen the maintenance activities of the tracks in Kashmir, a tamping machine has been deployed since the beginning of June, which fills the stone pieces under the tracks to ensure proper alignment and stability of the tracks. He said that till now about 88 km of tracks have been tamented in the valley. This has improved the entry of ballast and the journey will be smooth.
