The water level on the Old Railway Bridge was recorded at 205.22 meters on Monday morning, which was 205.33 meters on Sunday night. That is, gradually correct, but the water level is now decreasing. Where on Thursday last week, Yamuna touched the highest level of this season, which stood at 207.48 meters. This situation of the Yamuna river refreshed the dreadful memories for Delhiites. Especially pictures like 2023 floods, when the river set a record of 208.66 meters and thousands of people became homeless.

Relief camp

The Delhi administration set up relief camps showing speed. People were given temporary shelter by putting tents near Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Mori Gate and Mayur Vihar. Food, medicines and basic facilities for children have been provided in these camps. Old Railway Bridge, which is considered an important center for monitoring the flow of Yamuna and water level, remained closed for several days. The movement was stopped from here when the water level went above the danger mark. Now after the water is reduced, it is expected that the situation will start becoming normal.

Further danger?

According to the Meteorological Department, if there is no heavy rains in the next few days, then the water level can come down further. But it is still necessary to take precautions because the river is still flowing above the warning level. After the tragedy of last year’s flood, when the water reached the danger level this year, the heartbeat intensified. However, at present, people have breathed a sigh of relief due to low water. The same, the administration is still on alert and is ready to deal with any situation.
