CM Yogi in Sonbhadra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tribute to tribal leader Birsa Munda on his 150th birth anniversary. Speaking at the ‘Tribal Pride Day’ program in Chopan, the Chief Minister said that the double engine government of the NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to ensuring security, good governance, respect and development of the tribal communities. With this, tribal communities will become leading partners in mainstream development. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 432 development projects worth Rs 548 crore. He said that today’s government is carrying forward that legacy through inclusive policies and concrete actions for tribal welfare. The Chief Minister described Sonbhadra as the energy capital of Uttar Pradesh with a unique confluence of natural beauty and rich resources. He said that the participation of a large number of tribal brothers and sisters in the ‘Tribal Pride Day’ program organized here is a symbol of aspiration and belief for change. Said that a tribal museum and hostel has been established in Imalia Kodar of Balrampur district.

‘Tribal Pride Museum’ will be built in Sonbhadra

Said that a similar ‘Tribal Pride Museum’ will be established here to preserve the tribal art, musical instruments and traditions of the tribal society and to inspire future generations. The 1.4 billion year old fossil, under consideration for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List, remains a unique attraction to strengthen Sonbhadra’s global identity. He said that 14 out of 15 tribes of the state reside here, including more than 400,000 tribal inhabitants, whose cultural heritage is linked to the history of human origin and civilization. The Chief Minister highlighted that the Dharti Aaba Tribe Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan under “PM Jan Man Yojana” is writing a new chapter in providing basic amenities and overall development in 517 tribal dominated villages of the state. He said the state’s tribal population of about 1.1 million lives in various districts including Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Chitrakoot, Balrampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shravasti and Bahraich. Schemes are being implemented with the aim of saturation in all these areas.

Tribal families get forest rights leases

He said that after the amendment in the Forest Rights Act, the present government has adopted a clear policy and has taken decisive steps towards giving lease of forest land to the genuine claimants. The Chief Minister handed over forest rights pattas to more than 1,000 tribal families. Whereas more than 23,000 leases have already been approved. He said that this also broke the decades-old cycle of fear and oppression. A booklet based on tourist places of Sonbhadra and a book based on Birsa Munda were also released. Under ‘Mission Shakti’, 25 scooters were flagged off for women police personnel. An exhibition of musical instruments and folklore of tribal culture was also organized in this programme. The atmosphere was enlivened through cultural performances, which included Yak dance from Arunachal Pradesh, Surguja tribal group from Chhattisgarh and Karma dance from Sonbhadra, the statement said.
