UP Da Hike: Increased dearness allowance will be paid to employees with a salary of April 2025, which will come to their account in May 2025.
UP DA Hike: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given a big gift to the state government employees. The Yogi government has approved an increase of 2 percent in state employees’ dearness allowance (DA). This decision will benefit about 16 lakh government employees of UP. The increased dearness allowance will be applicable from 1 January 2025 and the DA at the rate of 53 percent will now be 55 percent.
Which employees will benefit?
This increase will be applicable to employees receiving salary under the seventh revised salary matrix of the Government of India. This includes state government employees, employees of aided education and technical educational institutions, regular and full -time employees of urban local bodies, working employees and employees working in UGC pay scale. All these will get dearness allowance at the rate of 55 percent of the basic salary from 1 January 2025.
How much will the burden increase on the government?
The increased dearness allowance will be paid to the employees with a salary of April 2025, which will come to their account in May 2025. With this decision, the state government will cost an additional Rs 107 crore in May 2025. Apart from this, there will be an expenditure of Rs 193 crore for payment of arrears from January to April. At the same time, Rs 129 crore will be deposited in the General Provident Fund (GPF) of employees with old pension scheme (OPS). From June 2025, every month the government will have an additional expenditure of Rs 107 crore.
Impact of central government’s decision
Recently, the central government had increased the dearness allowance of its employees by 2 percent, after which the DA of central employees also increased to 55 percent. More than 1 crore central employees of the country benefited from this decision. After this move of the central government, now various state governments are also announcing the increase in DA for their employees. This decision of the Uttar Pradesh government is also a step taken in this direction. This step of the Yogi government has brought a wave of happiness among the employees. In the era of rising inflation, this relief will definitely prove to be helpful in reducing their financial burden.
