CM Yogi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that coordination between the bench and the bar plays an important role in maintaining the rule of law. Yogi was speaking at the fourth convocation ceremony of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow on Sunday. He said that justice flourishes only when prudence and sensitivity work in harmony. Yogi said that the bench symbolizes the wisdom of human intellect, while the bar represents our collective sensitivity. When both come together, the true form of rule of law is seen in governance. On this occasion, Chief Justice of India-designate Justice Surya Kant and Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Justice Arun Bhansali were also present.

Strong judiciary is necessary for good governance

The Chief Minister called upon the law students to work with justice, equality and sensitivity in the society. Highlighting the state government’s initiative to improve the judicial infrastructure, Adityanath said that to ensure better coordination between the bench and the bar, we have started developing integrated court complexes across Uttar Pradesh. We have released funds for 10 districts, where all the courts at the district level will function from the same premises. The campus will also include residential and other essential facilities. The Chief Minister said that earlier there were no air-conditioners in the chambers of district judges. We have approved that also. It is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. If you ever get angry, the cool air of the AC on the bench can calm down the atmosphere a bit. Adityanath also emphasized that a strong judiciary is very important for good governance.

Important role of judiciary

He said that judiciary plays an important role in any democratic system. The stronger the judicial system is, the easier it will be to achieve the goal of good governance. Comparing it with ancient ideals, he said that in ancient times good governance was called ‘Ram Rajya’. A system where there was no room for discrimination and where every section of the society participated equally. We are working in this spirit to strengthen our governance and judicial system. The Chief Minister also mentioned the government’s efforts to modernize the justice system through initiatives like e-courts, alternative dispute resolution and promotion of cyber laws. He further said that Allahabad High Court is now known for its strong infrastructure. We have taken rapid steps.

Government committed to quick and accessible justice

Adityanath said steps have been taken to set up more than 380 POCSO and fast-track courts to ensure speedy justice, especially in cases involving women and children. He said that measures like Lok Adalats and arbitration are being strengthened to provide quick and accessible justice. He said that the role of legal service authorities and judiciary is very important in this direction. The state government is fully committed to making the justice system accessible, transparent and modern. Wishing the graduating students, Adityanath said, I congratulate all the students receiving their degrees today and wish them a bright and meaningful future.
