Bihar Election: Bahubali-turned-politician Ananth Kumar Singh, who filed nomination papers as JDU candidate from Mokama assembly seat in Bihar, declared that he has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 37.88 crore. He is also known as ‘Chhote Sarkar’ in Bihar. Anant Singh has made this announcement in the affidavit filed during nomination. Bahubali Singh submitted his nomination papers to the Election Commission on Tuesday before JDU officially announced its list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. According to party sources, he filed nomination papers after receiving the JD(U) election symbol from its top leadership. It is known that Singh’s wife Neelam Devi had won the Mokama seat on RJD ticket in the 2020 elections.
Has been MLA from Mokama five times
He extended his support to the NDA government in the state. His wife has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 62.72 crore. Voting will be held in the first phase in Mokama on 6 November. In the affidavit filed before the returning officer along with the nomination papers, Singh declared that he owned movable assets worth Rs 26.66 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 11.22 crore. His wife has movable assets worth Rs 13.07 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 49.65 crore. According to the affidavit, Singh, a five-time MLA from Mokama, has Rs 15.61 lakh in cash, while his wife has Rs 34.60 lakh. Singh has several bank accounts and gold jewelery worth Rs 15 lakh. Neelam also has several bank accounts and gold jewelery worth Rs 76.61 lakh. According to the affidavit, Singh’s movable assets also include three luxury SUV cars worth Rs 3.23 crore and his wife also has three luxury cars worth Rs 77.62 lakh.
28 criminal cases against Anant Singh
Apart from this, his other assets include horses and cows. According to the affidavit, Singh also has 28 criminal cases registered against him. Bahubali Singh’s family has been winning elections since 1990. Anant Singh handed over the charge to his wife Neelam in 2022, when he was disqualified from the Assembly due to his conviction in the UAPA case. He was recently acquitted by the Patna High Court. Anant Singh made it clear that he could no longer entrust the responsibility of guarding the family fort to his spouse. On the other hand, RJD has vowed to make the elections difficult for Singh, popularly known as ‘Chhote Sarkar’ in Mokama. RJD has said that whoever gives a strong challenge to Anant Singh will be given the ticket.
