The Government of India has advised the youth to avoid online gaming. DGGI says that many Bollywood celebrities and cricketers promote these companies, so the youth should not waste their money by coming under their deception.

DELHI: The Government of India has advised the youth to avoid online gaming. DGGI says that many Bollywood celebrities and cricketers promote these companies, so the youth should not waste their money by coming under their deception. Taking action against many fake online gaming institutions, the government has seized an amount of about 122 crores and blocked 357 websites. The Goods and Services Tax Directorate General (DGGI) has intensified action against offshore online gaming institutions.

The online money gaming industry includes both domestic and foreign operators. About 700 institutions involved in online money gaming, betting and gambling are under the scrutiny of DGGI. It has been observed that these institutions are stealing GST by registration, hiding taxable payments and bypassing tax obligations. DGGI has blocked 357 websites of online money gaming institutions. In an operation against some illegal gaming platforms, DGGI blocked bank accounts. About two thousand bank accounts and an amount of 122.05 crore have been attached.

Government blocks 166 mule accounts of online money gaming

DGGI launched another campaign against some Indian citizens, running online money gaming platforms from outside India. This showed that these people were offering online money gaming to Indian customers through many such online platforms including Satguru online money gaming platform, Mahakal online money gaming platform and 247 online money gaming platform. They were using mule bank accounts to collect money from Indian customers. DGGI has so far blocked 166 mule accounts associated with these platforms. So far, three such people have been arrested and investigation is going on against such people.

Investigation also revealed that these companies work through ‘mule’ bank accounts to process the transaction. There is a possibility of imposing the money collected through the box accounts in illegal activities, which can also be dangerous from the point of view of national security.

Government will be more strict to stop illegal gaming operations

DGGI found in investigation that many Bollywood celebrities and cricketers, YouTube, WhatsApp and Instagram’s influential people, are found supporting these platforms. Therefore, DGGI has advised the public to be vigilant and avoid joining foreign online money gaming platforms. Because it can endanger their personal finance and indirectly support activities that weaken financial integrity and national security. Enforcement action will be more strict to prevent illegal gaming operations with the upcoming IPL season. It is known that offshore companies are those who are established in another country instead of their original country. Often for tax exemption or other legal benefits.
