Montha weakened into a deep depression over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana. Naidu conducted an aerial survey of the cyclone-affected areas, which included Bapatla, Palnadu, Krishna, Konaseema and Eluru districts.

Citing preliminary estimates, the government had said on Tuesday that due to the impact of Montha, standing agricultural crops in 38,000 hectares were destroyed and horticulture crops in 1.38 lakh hectares were also damaged.
Heavy rain with thunderstorm in Vijayawada
Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu said on Wednesday that although its intensity has reduced after the arrival of Montha, power and transport systems are disrupted in many affected districts. Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are continuing relief work. Fallen trees have been removed from Nizampatnam Repalle Road, Machilipatnam Manginapudi Road and Anakapalle and Machilipatnam areas. Special Chief Secretary, Disaster Management, G Sai Prasad said that the Chief Minister reviewed the rain and flood situation and has directed the officials for distribution of essential commodities. The government will distribute 25 kg of rice and red gram dal, cooking oil, onion, potato and sugar, one kg each. Double quantity of rice will be distributed to weavers and fishermen. Vijayawada city received heavy rains along with thunderstorm on Wednesday morning and due to the impact of ‘Montha’ crossing the coast, many trees were uprooted and many roads were submerged. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall at most places and heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam till October 29.
