Bihar Election: For the second phase of assembly elections in Bihar, 31.38 percent voting took place till 11 pm on Tuesday. According to Election Commission data, Kishanganj district had the highest turnout at 34.74 percent, while Madhubani district had the lowest turnout at 28.66 percent. Voting is going on in many districts in the second phase, in which 34.74 percent voting took place in Kishanganj, 34.07 percent in Gaya Ji and 33.69 percent in Jamui. More than 30 percent voting took place in other districts like Purnia, Bankura and Aurangabad. Extensive arrangements have been made to maintain security and peace in the electoral process. Voting is being continuously monitored by the Election Commission. In this phase, the prestige of a total of 1,302 candidates, including eight members of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet, is at stake. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself is a member of the Legislative Council and is not contesting the elections, but this election is being considered no less than a referendum for him.

Participate enthusiastically in voting: Nitish

As president of Janata Dal United, Nitish is the longest serving leader in power in the state and his political legacy is at stake in this election. The districts going to polls in the second phase include West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj. Most of which come in Seemanchal region, where Muslim population is high. This is why this phase is being considered extremely important for both the ruling National Democratic Alliance and the opposition India Alliance. The opposition is counting on the support of the minority community in the region, while the ruling coalition alleges that the opposition is giving protection to infiltrators. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have appealed to the voters to participate enthusiastically in this festival of democracy. The Prime Minister said that voting for the second and final phase of Bihar assembly elections is taking place. I urge all voters to vote enthusiastically and create a new record. I would especially like to tell my young colleagues that they should vote themselves and inspire others too.

People are looking for alternative: PK

Nitish Kumar said that voting is not only a right but also a responsibility. He appealed on social media that I appeal to all the voters to exercise their franchise in the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections. In the first phase of state assembly elections on November 6, a record 65.09 percent of the 3.75 crore voters exercised their franchise on 121 seats. Both NDA and ‘India’ alliance say this in their favor. Prashant Kishore, founder of Jan Suraj Party, says that the increase in voting percentage is an indication that the people of Bihar, who were looking for an alternative for years, have now found an alternative in our form. Kishor is being considered as the ‘X factor’ in this election. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha claimed that the public is blessing the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ mantra of the double engine government by pressing the vote button. Voting has started at 7 in the morning and will continue till 6 in the evening.
