Himachal Pradesh Congress: Former Deputy Speaker of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Vinay Kumar took charge as the new President of the State Congress Committee on Sunday. Said that this crown is full of challenges. The biggest challenge is to get party workers out of their homes for the organization. He said that I will try to become the voice of Congress workers in the state and ensure the party’s victory again in the 2027 assembly elections. He said he would work as a link between the government and the organization and ensure that the work of the party workers gets done. Kumar said that there is no organization in the state for the last one year and it will have to be reorganized up to the booth level. Kumar (47), a three-time MLA from Renukaji constituency in Sirmaur district, took charge amid sloganeering and showering of flowers by party workers at Rajiv Bhawan here. He was born in Renuka ji in a farming Koli (Dalit) family.
Will strengthen the party: Sukhu
His father Prem Singh was a former MLA. Before this, he had also worked as Chief Parliamentary Secretary. The new Congress state chief was appointed on November 22 after more than a year. On November 6, 2024, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had dissolved the State Congress Committee in Himachal Pradesh along with the district and block units with immediate effect. Nevertheless, state Congress chief Pratibha Singh remained in her post. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that Kumar, who is associated with the ideology of Congress, has been appointed unanimously. Coming from the Scheduled Caste community, he will strengthen the party and under his leadership the Congress government will be formed again in the state. He said that we will move forward with the blessings of the elders and the zeal and enthusiasm of the youth.
Process of appointment of district heads started
Said that the process of appointment of district presidents has started and appointments will be made on the basis of field reports. Congress state in-charge Rajni Patil said that after discussions with all the leaders, Kumar has been appointed unanimously and the high command has given the green signal. He said that the process of appointment of party officials has started and observers are in the field. There will be proper representation of women and youth. With the new party president taking charge, a new era has begun in the Congress Party. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that Vinay represents the constituency of former and first Chief Minister YS Parmar and it is a proud moment for Sirmaur district.
