Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that those who oppose the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ are insulting the unity and integrity of India. He cited All India Muslim League leaders Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Mohammad Ali Johar. Participating in ‘Ekta Yatra’ and mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ in Gorakhpur on Monday, he said that even today we expect every person living in India to be loyal to the nation and work for its unity. He said that when programs were organized to commemorate the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, the same voices of protest emerged again. Said that a Samajwadi Party MP again opposed the national anthem. These are the same people who skip the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India’s integrity, but shamelessly participate in programs organized in Jinnah’s honour.
Threat to the country from separatist forces
Adityanath asked if the country fails to honor its national heroes, where will it go? The Chief Minister said that extremism, Naxalism and terrorism, which continuously challenge the unity and integrity of India. They are nurtured by those who insult national symbols and revolutionaries. He said that such actions encourage separatist forces which are a threat to the national identity of the country. He said that now it is our duty to identify and oppose all the elements that divide the society, be it in the name of caste, region or language. These divisions are part of the conspiracy to create a new Jinnah. Jinnah served as the leader of the All India Muslim League from 1913 until the establishment of Pakistan on 14 August 1947. After this he became the first Governor-General of Pakistan. Johar was the co-founder of the All India Muslim League. He urged the people to ensure that no new Jinnah ever emerges in India again.
There is no justification for protesting ‘Vande Mataram’
Said that if someone dares to challenge the integrity of the country, then we should bury such divisive intentions before they take root. The Chief Minister said that every citizen of India should unite for this purpose. Adityanath said that there is no justification for opposing “Vande Mataram”. The venom against the national anthem began to spread after Johar refused to stand in its favor at the 1923 Congress session. The Chief Minister said that Vande Mataram was sung in every Congress session from 1896 to 1922, but when Johar became the Congress President in 1923, as soon as the song started, he came out and refused to participate. Due to which the opposition to Vande Mataram became one of the unfortunate reasons for the partition of India. Adityanath said that if Congress had expelled Jauhar at that time and respected national unity through Vande Mataram, the partition of India would never have happened.
