Sheikh Hasina: Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has given big information on her return to her home country. He has also criticized Mohammad Yunus, representative of the interim government of Bangladesh, for spoiling relations with India. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her return home depends on the restoration of “participatory democracy”, lifting of the ban on Awami League and holding of free, fair and inclusive elections. Hasina also accused the Yunus administration of “endangering relations with India and empowering extremist forces”.
‘Yunus spoiled India-Bangladesh relations’
Comparing his foreign policy to that of the current interim government, he said that “broader and deeper” relations between Dhaka and New Delhi would have to face the “foolishness of Yunus”. Hasina accused the Yunus-led interim government of endangering relations with New Delhi through “stupid and suicidal” diplomatic mistakes. “Yunus’s hostility towards India is foolish and suicidal and it exposes him as a weak leader who is unelected, anarchic and dependent on the support of extremists,” he alleged.

expressed gratitude to India
Hasina reassured Indians worried about the current hostile environment in Bangladesh, saying, “The interim government does not represent the thinking of our countrymen. India is and will remain the most important friend of our country.” Hasina thanked the Indian government for granting her asylum and said she was “extremely grateful for the generous hospitality of the Government of India and its people.”
When will Hasina return?
Hasina told PTI, my most important condition for returning to Bangladesh is what the Bangladeshi people want – the return of participatory democracy. The interim administration will have to lift the ban on Awami League and conduct free, fair and inclusive elections.” Hasina also rejected reports that she had called for boycotting the elections to be held in February next year. He stressed that ‘no election except that of Awami League will be valid. Crores of people support us… I hope this foolish ban will be lifted… Whether in government or in opposition, Awami League should be part of the political conversation in Bangladesh.
What did Sheikh Hasina call kangaroo court?
Hasina said, “I have repeatedly challenged Yunus’s government to try me in the International Criminal Court if he is so confident in his case. Yunus has been avoiding this challenge because he knows that the ICC, which is actually an impartial tribunal, will definitely acquit me.” He dismissed Bangladesh’s International Criminal Tribunal as a “kangaroo tribunal” controlled by political opponents. “They are trying to neutralize both me and the Awami League as political forces,” he alleged.
Resigned due to violence
Let us tell you that Hasina, who was the longest serving Prime Minister of Bangladesh, left the country on August 5, 2024 after several weeks of violent anti-government protests. Due to this widespread movement he had to resign and took refuge in India. After this, an interim government was formed in Bangladesh, whose representative was Mohammad Yunus.
