Sunil Gavaskar told the problems of Team India

Cricket News: Indian team had a disappointing performance against South African spinners. Meanwhile, former cricketer R Ashwin said that now Team India’s batsmen are no longer the best in playing spin.

Cricket News : Indian team’s batsmen were seen struggling against spin in the Kolkata Test against South Africa. The management led by Gautam Gambhir had demanded a turning pitch and this decision itself seemed to have a heavy impact on Team India. The Indian batsmen were seen faltering on the pitch on which they were hoping to score big. Regarding this performance, former Indian spinner R Ashwin said that now Team India’s batsmen are no longer the best in the world in terms of playing spin. He said that the spinners of many western countries are excellent. Now veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has also entered on this issue. He raised questions on the players of Team India regarding their distance from domestic cricket and practice.

A lot of difficulty in playing spin

R Ashwin said that at present we are not great players of spin and many western players are better than us because they come to India and practice a lot. We don’t prepare that much. Ashwin claimed that Indian batsmen play fast bowlers brilliantly because we consider them a challenge, but we do not have the same attitude towards spin. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar directly said that the weakness of Indian batsmen due to spin will be broken by playing domestic cricket. He said that our players do not play domestic cricket. If we had played Ranji Trophy, it would have been very easy to play on such a pitch. According to Gavaskar, when the player stays away from the domestic circuit, it is natural to struggle on the turning pitch.

Workload management also taken to task

Apart from this, Gavaskar also targeted workload management. He said that there are many players who come to play domestic cricket when their form starts deteriorating. Everyone else keeps distance from domestic cricket citing workload. He said that now the issue of workload has come and distance from Ranji Trophy has started. According to Gavaskar, if Team India needs reliable batsmen on spin pitches, then the selectors should also pay attention to the players playing domestic cricket. All these statements show that this is a big warning for Indian cricket. The Indian team, which once held the title of world’s best in playing spin, seems to be lagging behind in the same matter. Also, the case of Gambhir playing on a turning pitch is the latest example of this.
