Player suicide case: In Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, an international Ju-Jitsu (Japanese martial arts) player committed suicide by hanging herself at home. In this connection, the police arrested a senior official of the sports association. The police action has created a stir among the sports associations of the state. A senior official of the organization associated with this sport was arrested for mentally harassing a 35-year-old international player and instigating her to commit suicide. Bank Note Press police station in-charge Amit Solanki said that international ju-jitsu player Rohini Kalam (35) had committed suicide by hanging herself in her house on October 26. In the investigation, based on the statements of Rohini’s family members and technical evidence, the police found that the 35-year-old player was being mentally tortured continuously by Madhya Pradesh Ju-Jitsu Association President Vijendra Kharsodia and Vice President Pritam Singh Solanki, due to which she was forced to commit suicide.

Kharsodiya was also Rohini’s coach.

The station in-charge said that a case has been registered in the Bank Note Press police station regarding the death of the player under section 108 of the Indian Justice Code (abetment of suicide) and other related legal provisions. He said that Solanki, one of the accused, has been arrested, while Kharsodiya is being searched. Kharsodia has also been the coach of Rohini, under whose training Rohini had won different awards in national and international competitions of Ju-Jitsu. Quoting the FIR, another police officer said that Rohini had undergone an operation for her stomach lump in June. Despite this, Kharsodiya and Solanki used to harass him by calling him repeatedly and called him for training. Both the officials of the Sports Association have also been accused of not allowing Rohini to participate in any competition without asking them and they used to put pressure on the deceased and take her to the competitions even without her consent.

Sister demanded CBI investigation

Meanwhile, the family members of the international Ju-Jitsu player have expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation by Dewas Police. Rohini’s younger sister Roshni said that when we talked about agitation on the issue of my elder sister’s suicide, the police quickly registered a case on Wednesday (19 November). I am not at all satisfied with the police investigation and want my sister’s death to be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He alleged that Kharsodia and Solanki used to interfere a lot in his sister’s personal life at times and also put undue pressure on his sister regarding sports. Roshni also claimed that the laptop and pen drive were missing from her sister’s room. His family members have no information about these devices. Roshni said that if a fair investigation is not conducted, she will meet the Chief Minister and plead for justice.
