Congress MPs are protesting with banners outside the Makar Gate of Parliament demanding discussion on pollution. It is written on the banner ‘Enjoy the weather’. This is a sarcasm on the Prime Minister’s statement. Along with this, the MPs have also worn masks. The opposition is continuously attacking the government on pollution.

Children are dying- Sonia Gandhi

On Delhi’s air pollution, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said, “It is the government’s responsibility to find a solution to pollution. Children are dying and elderly people like me are being badly affected by it. They are not able to breathe… I have also written an article on what is in my mind and what should be done.” Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi said, “Modi ji says enjoy the weather, which season should we enjoy. The situation is worsening every year. No concrete steps are being taken. Only rhetoric is being made. The government should take action against pollution, we all will stand together. This is not a political matter.”

Notice given to Lok Sabha Secretary General

Congress MPs Manickam Tagore, Manish Tewari and Vijay Kumar gave a notice to discuss air quality in North India. In his notice to the Lok Sabha Secretary General, Tagore said, “The government is issuing advisories instead of taking action, forming committees instead of solutions, while there is evidence that pollution increases the risk of cancer, kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders and metabolic diseases like diabetes, this government is refusing to declare pollution as a national health priority.” He demanded “National Clean Air Mission along with law, strict accountability for polluters.
