Shah Rukh Kajol Bronze Statue: Bollywood’s iconic film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ) has completed 30 years. This film of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol has received a lot of love in India as well as abroad. On the occasion of completion of 30 years, a bronze statue of a famous scene from ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ has been built in Leicester Square, London. This is the first time that an Indian film has been honored in this manner in Leicester Square.

The statue depicts Kajol and Shahrukh Khan in the dancing pose of the film’s hit song ‘Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna’. DDLJ’s name is now associated with films like Harry Potter, Bridget Jones, Mary Poppins and Batman.

Raj-Simran met here

The statue of the duo has joined Leicester Square’s ‘Scenes in the Square’ trail, which features memorable shots from some of the world’s most famous films. The specialty of this place is that in the film, Shahrukh Khan (Raj) and Kajol (Simran) unknowingly met each other for the first time in this famous square of London. Shah Rukh Khan thanked the Heart of London business alliance behind the cinematic trail in Leicester Square that celebrated ‘DDLJ’ and “immortalised” its lead stars.

Shahrukh, Kajol expressed happiness

Khan said, “I feel very proud to know that the film has been loved across the world and I want to share this moment with the entire cast and crew of ‘DDLJ’, my friend and director Aditya Chopra and the Yash Raj Films family. This is a moment I will never forget.” He said, “Personally, ‘DDLJ’ is a part of my identity and it feels good to see that the film, Kajol and I, are getting so much love since its release. Seeing ‘DDLJ’ become the first Indian film to be honored at the Iconic Scenes in the Square Trail is an emotional moment and has brought back a lot of memories.

Kajol was seen striking an iconic pose in front of the statue with Shahrukh Khan as she braved the rain in a green saree. Kajol said, “To see that ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is still getting so much love even after 30 years. Seeing the statue in London felt like we were reliving a part of our history. A story that has truly been passed down through generations.” Akshay Vidhani, CEO, Yash Raj Films said, “When Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, DDLJ, was released 30 years ago, the film became a watershed moment for Indian cinema and changed the face of the industry, winning the hearts of everyone who watched it across the world.”
