Imran Khan: Adiala Jail administration on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has been informed about the health of Imran Khan.
Imran Khan: Amidst all the rumours, the Adiala Jail administration on Thursday said that former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is completely healthy in the jail. Jail officials dismissed the rumors circulating on social media. Adiala Jail administration, in a statement issued here on Thursday, said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has been informed about the health of Imran Khan. All necessary care is being provided to the PTI chief. 73-year-old Khan is in jail since August 2023 in several cases. Many social media accounts have shared unverified claims of Imran Khan’s death. Some foreign media have also reported on rumors about his health. The Adiala Jail administration has said that there is no truth in the rumors being spread on social media about his medical condition. This development has happened at a time when Imran Khan’s three sisters are not being allowed to meet Imran Khan for the last six weeks. Due to which she is raising questions on the whereabouts of the former Prime Minister. They also staged a protest outside Adiala Jail.
The news of sending him to another jail is baseless
Adiala Jail administration further clarified that the news of transfer of Imran Khan from Adiala Jail is completely baseless. The jail administration said that Imran Khan is in Adiala jail and is healthy. The rumors on social media about his transfer are baseless. PTI has demanded that the government lift the undeclared ban on Imran Khan’s meetings and immediately arrange a meeting between the former prime minister and his family. In a statement issued early on Thursday, PTI demanded that the current government and the Interior Ministry clearly reject the rumor and arrange an immediate meeting between Imran Khan and his family. The party demanded that a formal and transparent statement should be issued by the state regarding Imran’s health, safety and current condition. The party called for an investigation of those responsible for spreading sensitive rumors and demanded that the entire facts be presented to the nation. PTI said that the country will not tolerate any uncertainty about the status of Imran Khan. The government is directly responsible for protecting Imran’s security, human rights and constitutional rights.
Sisters, lawyers are not being allowed to meet
Imran’s party vowed to take every legal and political step to counter these rumors and expose the truth. PTI leader Meher Bano Qureshi, who is also the daughter of former foreign minister and PTI vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said the rumors about Imran Khan’s health were worrying. The government is responsible for Khan Sahab’s security and is obliged to issue a statement to update the nation. As far as putting an end to these rumours, the best, most reliable way is to allow Khan Sahab’s sisters, lawyers and party members to meet him. Interestingly, Adiala jail comes under the administrative control of Maryam Nawaz’s Punjab government. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, daughter of three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has already said that she has no control over Khan’s meetings. Earlier, Khan had claimed that an army colonel was in charge of Adiala jail affairs.
