Police have also recovered fake ointment worth Rs 2 crore from a factory located in Ghaziabad. Two people have been arrested in this case. Police have arrested Gaurav Bhagat, resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and Shri Ram alias Vishal Gupta, resident of Sabapur, North-East Delhi. This campaign was run by the Crime Branch. The accused used to make fake ointments of renowned companies. They were widely used in the treatment of skin infections, allergies and sports-related injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam said that fake medicines were being sold as genuine branded products, posing a serious threat to public health.

Illegal factory caught in Loni, Ghaziabad

On receiving the information, the Crime Branch team first raided Teliwara in Sadar Bazaar, which is one of the largest wholesale drug and cosmetics markets in the country. During the raid, a large quantity of fake ointments were recovered. Whose value was said to be around Rs 23 lakh. Later, on the basis of intelligence, the team reached an illegal factory operating in Mirpur Hindu village of Loni area of ​​Ghaziabad. A search of the premises led to the recovery of counterfeit medicines, huge quantity of raw chemicals, packing material, empty tubes with fake brand labels and machinery used for mixing, filling and sealing ointments.

Raids in other states also

The DCP said that drug inspectors from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, along with authorized representatives of the concerned pharmaceutical companies, conducted spot inspections and took samples from the seized stock. He confirmed that the medicines were fake. He said that the accused were manufacturing, storing or selling pharmaceutical products without any valid license. The DCP said that the seized material included about 1200 tubes of fake Betnovate-C ointment, more than 2700 tubes of fake Clop-G, more than 3700 tubes of fake Skin-Shine Ointment, about 22000 empty fake Clop-G tubes, more than 350 kg of semi-finished ointment, chemicals and construction equipment. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam said that the police is also raiding other states to arrest other members of the gang.
