West Bengal News : The gang rape of an MBBS student of a private college in Durgapur, West Bengal has shocked the country. Meanwhile, a statement by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee further angered everyone from the opposition to the general public. BJP demanded her resignation calling it a stigma on womanhood. The party accused the TAC supremo of victim shaming and blaming.
no right to rule the state
BJP said that if Chief Minister Banerjee cannot stand with women in their worst times, then she has no moral right to rule the state. This protest by BJP started when Mamata Banerjee had said that girls, especially the students living outside, should follow the hostel rules and should not go out late at night. The Chief Minister has made this comment after the gang rape of a student of a private medical college in Durgapur, a resident of Odisha, when she had gone out to have dinner with her friends. On this, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that there is a stigma on shameless womanhood and being a Chief Minister is even more so.
Made the victim guilty: BJP
She alleged that after RG Kar and Sandeshkhali, now in this horrific case of rape, instead of justice, she is blaming the victim. Criticizing Banerjee’s remarks, Bhatia said that the Chief Minister who instead of ensuring the safety of girls asks them not to go out at night, has no right to hold this post. At the same time, people have now realized that they have placed their trust in an anarchist, heartless mother. Gaurav Bhatia further said that he should resign and be held accountable under the law. At the same time, BJP leader Amit Malviya alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had brutally gang-raped a second year MBBS student from Odisha, who was brutally gang-raped by Wasif Ali and his associates. Chief Minister Banerjee’s comment on this matter is shameful. He said that this is not the first time that Mamata Banerjee has accused the victim of defaming and blaming her.
