Bihar Election: Congress on Monday released the names of seven more candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections, taking the total number of candidates announced by the party to 61. Congress announced the list of six candidates after midnight, while no formal agreement has been reached regarding seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. No consensus has been reached between the two main components of the alliance, RJD and Congress. According to the list of six candidates, Congress has fielded Surendra Prasad Kushwaha from Valmiki Nagar, Abidur Rehman from Araria, Jalil Mastan from Amour, Tauqeer Alam from Barari, Praveen Singh Kushwaha from Kahalgaon and Vinod Chaudhary from Sikandra (SC). Later the party fielded Minnat Rahmani from Supaul assembly constituency.
Congress will contest elections on 61 seats
Sources said the final names have been announced and the party will contest on 61 seats, which was 70 last time. Cracks in the India Bloc’s armor became stark on Sunday in poll-bound Bihar, where disgruntled RJD and Congress candidates accused the leadership of selling tickets. The last day for filing nomination papers for the second and final phase is Monday. Ahmed Khan was given ticket from Kadwa. After this, on Friday the party gave ticket to Rishi Mishra from Jale. On Saturday, the party released the list of five candidates. On the other hand, Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahni, who was till now adamant on demanding the post of Deputy CM in the Grand Alliance, has released the second list of assembly candidates. Five candidates have been given tickets in this list. In this, candidates have been announced in five assembly constituencies including Katihar, Bihpur, Kesariya.
Mukesh Sahni’s brother also in the field
Vikassheel Insaan Party has given ticket to Bal Govind Singh from Chainpur, Manoj Sahni from Sugauli, Aparna Kumari Mandal from Bihpur, Saurav Aggarwal from Katihar and Varun Vijay from Kesariya. Before this, six candidates were announced in the first list. In this, VIP gave tickets to Bhogendra Sahni from Aurai, Rakesh Kumar from Baruraj, Umesh Sahni from Darbhanga Sadar, Ganesh Bharti from Kusheshwarsthan, Naveen Nishad from Alamnagar, Santosh Sahni from Gaudabauram. Santosh is the brother of Mukesh Sahni. RJD candidate had also filed nomination from this seat but later it was withdrawn. Earlier there was discussion that Mukesh Sahni himself would contest elections from Gaudabauram. But later Mukesh Sahni clearly said that he will not contest the elections. However, he again reiterated the demand for the post of Deputy CM. Said that if the Grand Alliance government is formed then he wants to become Deputy CM.
