He claimed that he wanted to offer prayers in the Gurudwaras of Pakistan on the occasion of Prakash Parv of the founder of Sikhism. Amar Chand said that he and six members of his family were sent back because they were Hindus. He also claimed that he reached Pakistan via Attari-Wagah road and completed all the formalities there.

2100 passengers got approval

Pakistani authorities approved visas for only 2100 Indian pilgrims, but only a part of the Sikh group was able to cross the border. Also 300 passengers, including both Sikhs and Hindus, were sent back. At the same time, quoting government sources, it has been told that some of them had lived in Pakistan and after that they had taken Indian citizenship. Sources further said that some people were not going for the purpose of pilgrimage but to meet people they knew. He further said that refusing to enter Pakistan falls within their jurisdiction and India cannot officially raise any voice in this matter. However, this was not good news for the people returning to the country.
