Gujarat Ats: Daman Crime Branch and Valsad special campaign group conducted a joint campaign and raided the bungalow at Vapi and the farmhouse at Moti Daman.
Gujarat ATS: The Gujarat Anti -Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday seized about six kilograms of Mefedron (MD) drugs worth Rs 30 crore from a house in Vapi in Valsad district of Gujarat. A person has been arrested in this connection. The ATS said that on Thursday, in a joint operation with the Daman Crime Branch, 300 kg of raw materials and various equipment used to make 300 kg of raw materials and banned substances were also seized from a farmhouse in the neighboring district of Daman, Diu and Dadra. The ATS was informed that the accused Mehul Thakur, Vivek Rai and Mohanlal Paliwal are preparing a banned substance in a farmhouse near Daman and keeping it in the house of a person named Manoj Singh Thakur in Chala Road area of Vapi.
Joint operation of ATS and Daman Crime Branch
On the basis of information, the agency conducted a joint operation with the Daman Crime Branch and the Valsad Special Campaign Group (SOG) and raided the bungalow at Vapi and the farmhouse at Moti Daman. During the raid, investigators found that the process of making MD drugs in the farm house was going on and 5.9 kg MD (solid and liquid) was kept in Singh’s bungalow. He said that a large stock of chemicals/raw materials used in the production of synthetic drugs was also recovered from the farmhouse. The price of 5.9 kg Mefedron in the international market is Rs 30 crore. During the raid on the farmhouse, about 300 kg of raw materials and grinder, motor, glass flask, meter etc. used in the production of about 300 kg of raw materials and MD drugs were also found from Baman Pajau’s pharmacy. The ATS said in its release that all these medicines were confiscated during the search. Paliwal was arrested on Thursday night and both the other two accused Mehul Thakur and Chemist Rai are residents of Vapi, absconding.
10 drums, several empty containers, electric gas recovered
The Daman Crime Branch said that the investigators in the materials used in the manufacture of MD drug collected 25 kg of bromo chemical, 50 kg of caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, salt bags, 10 drums of 25 liters weighing chemicals, many empty containers, electric gas, buckets, synthetic drugs and many trains. Synthetic drugs contained MDs like MDMA (methylinadyxmethemfetamine), active ingredients in ecstasy, and MDA (methylinadyoxemphatemine), a related stimulating and psychidelic. Which were chemical rather than obtained from natural sources. The crime branch said in a statement that the material recovered has the ability to prepare synthetic drugs, which can be worth crores of rupees in the open market. The crime branch said that further investigation is going on to identify the gang behind the production and related distribution network of synthetic drugs.
