West Bengal News: The fight over SIR continues in West Bengal. Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP met the Election Commission and tried to draw attention towards the irregularities taking place in the state.
West Bengal News : Assembly elections are to be held in West Bengal early next year and before that the allegations and counter-allegations between BJP and TMC are at their peak. Apart from this, there is also a huge battle going on in the state regarding Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and meanwhile, BJP on Wednesday alleged that fake and suspicious names are being included in the voter list at the behest of the ruling TMC in the state. Now the party has appealed to the Election Commission to take action regarding this. Apart from this, a BJP delegation contacted the Election Commission officials requesting them to assure the Hindu community including members of the Matua community, Buddhists and Jains that their names will be included in the voter list during the SIR in the state.
Highlighted the irregularities in front of EC
The BJP delegation met the Election Commission officials with a memorandum of their demands. This delegation included West Bengal co-incharge Amit Malviya, state unit president Samik Bhattacharya and MP Khagen Murmu. After meeting EC officials, Amit Malviya told media persons that we highlighted the irregularities seen so far in the first phase of SIR. We also brought to the notice of the Election Commission that TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is threatening BLOs to accept fake and fake entries. He said that the delegation brought to its notice that many dead voters were being included in the voter list under pressure from TMC workers and low-level bureaucrats.
BJP delegation made many complaints
Malviya said that we also gave such examples to the Election Commission where artificial family linkages were created to include doubtful voters in the list. He claimed that dead or shifted voters are being falsely shown as parents or relatives of new applicants to create fraudulent linkages. He further said that for the purpose of SIR, the person’s father-in-law has also been shown as the father. We also pointed out how in many cases the mother’s age is less than the son’s age. He further said that this is not possible unless large-scale rigging is being attempted in West Bengal.
