Sydney Terrorist Attack: On Monday, a major terrorist attack took place on Sydney’s Bondi Beach during the Hanukkah celebration. Two gunmen opened fire, killing 15 people, including a child. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it an anti-Semitic terrorist incident that has attacked the heart of the country. Investigation revealed that the attackers were father and son. New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said that the 50-year-old terrorist father was killed by police bullets. The second attacker, his 24-year-old son, was injured and was undergoing treatment in hospital.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns told reporters that the ages of those killed were between 10 and 87 years. At least 42 other people were being treated in hospitals on Monday morning, many of whom are in critical condition. “What we saw yesterday was an act of pure evil, an act of anti-Semitism, an act of terrorism on an iconic Australian spot on our shores, Bondi Beach, that has been forever tainted by what happened at a celebration that brought together families,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Monday.

Arsen Ostrovsky, a lawyer who was attending Hanukkah celebrations with his wife and daughters, was shot in the head. Ostrowski told that he came to Australia from Israel two weeks ago to work for a Jewish advocacy group. “What I saw today was pure evil, just a bloodbath. There were bodies scattered everywhere,” he said.
PM Modi strongly condemned
International politics has also heated up after this attack. Prime Minister Modi has also strongly condemned this attack and said that India has zero tolerance towards terrorism and supports the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused the Australian government of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of promoting anti-Semitism. Netanyahu said that decisions like recognizing the Palestinian state fuel anti-Semitism and it is necessary to take a strong stance against global anti-Semitism.
