It is being told that the report has clearly shown the presence of Kamal Nath at the crime scene i.e. Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. Senior advocate HS Phoolka, appearing for the petitioner, said that Kamal Nath’s presence at the crime scene was well recorded in the police records. Apart from this, many newspapers had mentioned his presence at the place and time of the incident. However, the government did not pay attention to these things in its status report. This application was filed in the main petition of Sirsa, in which action was sought against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath for his alleged role in the case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The High Court had earlier asked to file the status report on the SIT petition in January 2022. He sought direction to the SIT to take action against Kamal Nath in the FIR lodged at the Parliament Street Police Station here in 1984.

The high court sought direction to the SIT to take action against Kamal Nath in the FIR lodged at the Parliament Street police station in 1984, in which five people were named accused in the case and were reportedly lodged at the Congress leader’s house. Although the accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence, Kamal Nath’s name was never in the FIR. This case is related to the attack by a mob of rioters on Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib here. The petition said that two Sikhs, Inderjit Singh and Manmohan Singh, were burnt alive in the Gurudwara premises, allegedly by a mob led by Kamal Nath. Meanwhile, Kamal Nath had denied the allegations.
