Bareilly violence: In view of Dussehra, security was increased in four districts of Bareilly division of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Hundreds of security personnel carried out the route march. Drones have been deployed in the air. The district administration has stopped internet services for 48 hours in Bareilly district. According to a notification issued by the Home Department, mobile internet, broadband and SMS services will be suspended in Bareilly from 3 pm to 3 pm on October 2 to 4 October. Home Secretary Gaurav Dayal said in an order that social media platforms and messaging services like Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp are expected to be misused to spread rumors and to incite communal tension. It has been decided to suspend Internet services to maintain peace and public system.

PAC and RAF posted on the roads

The notification states that during the said period, mobile service providers, mobile internet and data services as well as all SMS services of broadband connections or wireless will be suspended. This directive has been issued under Section 7 of the Telegraph Act, 1885 and Temporary suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017. Information about the suspension of services has been sent to all telecom operators including BSNL, Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and Internet service providers besides the State Director General of Police (DGP), District Magistrate (DM) and Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). This order is applicable to Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit and Badaun districts. Police, Provincial Armed Forces (PAC) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel are stationed on the streets.

Police forces deployed at sensitive places

The police have been instructed to be vigilant in Ramlila Maidan, Durga Puja Fairs and Ravana Dahan programs, where huge crowds throng. Chaudhary said that all the District Magistrates, Deputy Collector, Police and Administrative Officers should fulfill their responsibilities seriously. Strict action will be taken on any kind of lapse. Officials said that intelligence agencies have also been kept on alert and teams have been deployed in the field. An official said that armed police forces are being deployed at sensitive places. We are making a complete arrangement so that the mess in Bareilly does not spread to the neighboring districts. It is known that after Friday prayers on 26 September, there was a clash between about 2,000 people and the police gathered outside a mosque in the Kotwali area of ​​Bareilly. There was also stone pelting. The unrest spread due to the cancellation of protests in protest against the I Love Muhammad poster controversy called by Maulvi Tauqir Khan. By Wednesday, 81 people were arrested in connection with the violence of 26 September.
