Akshay Kumar: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently took strict action against the misuse of his name, photo and voice. The actor had approached the Bombay High Court against this. Now the court has given them interim protection and said that deepfake images and videos are really disturbing because they look exactly like the real thing. Meanwhile, on Wednesday the bench of Justice Arif Doctor issued this order and it was made public on Thursday. The court said that nowadays videos and photos created by AI look so real that it has become almost impossible to differentiate between real and fake.

menace to society
The court also commented on the deepfake video of Akshay Kumar in which he was shown making communal statements and commenting on sage Valmiki. Regarding this, the court said that such videos not only violate the personality and moral rights of the actor, but are also a threat to the society and public order. The court also accepted that the motive of such fake content is not only to harm someone’s image but also to spread confusion and tension among the people.

Akshay Kumar’s complaint
Akshay Kumar had filed a petition in the High Court saying that his name and face are being used wrongly on social media and some websites. He had demanded that all fake content related to his name, photo, video and voice be removed. Also, this type of content should be banned in future. After this, the High Court clearly said in its order that even a famous celebrity like Akshay Kumar has his own personality rights. This includes his name, screen name, face, voice, tone and performance style. Any person or organization that uses these rights without permission violates the personality rights of Akshay Kumar. This is the reason why the court ordered all social media platforms to immediately remove all such deepfakes and fake content and no new posts should be made in future.

Celebrities troubled by deepfakes
Recently, deepfake videos have created new concerns in Bollywood and the digital world. A few days ago, the High Court had given similar relief to Asha Bhosle and Sunil Shetty. Actually, both of them had filed a petition against the fake use of their name and face. This case of Akshay Kumar has once again made it clear that Artificial Intelligence is becoming as dangerous as it is entertaining. Now it remains to be seen whether other Bollywood stars also take steps to protect their personality rights or not.
