UP News: A massive fire broke out in the firecracker market in Fatehpur district of UP on Sunday. 65 shops were destroyed in the fire. Crackers worth crores were burnt to ashes. Officials said that on Sunday, a massive fire broke out in a temporary firecracker market located at MG College grounds in Fatehpur, in which more than 65 shops were burnt to ashes and dozens of two-wheelers were reduced to ashes. He said that many people suffered minor burns and crackers worth crores of rupees were burnt to ashes. According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out in a firecracker stall at around 12:30 pm on Sunday due to short-circuit. The fire quickly spread to nearby stalls where firecrackers were kept. There were several powerful explosions. There was chaos in the market as traders and customers ran to safer places. A dense cloud of smoke spread into the sky from the fire.
No news of any casualties
Fatehpur SP Anoop Kumar Singh said that there is no news of any casualty yet. SP said that our first priority is to completely control the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated and strict action will be taken against those who are negligent. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Jaiveer Singh said that the fire engulfed the entire market within 15 to 20 minutes. He said that about 65-70 shops and more than two dozen two-wheelers were completely burnt to ashes. There is no news of any casualty yet. Officials said firefighters used sand, buckets of water and extinguishers to control the fire. However, vendors and shopkeepers alleged that fire tenders reached the spot about 20 minutes after the fire broke out, even though the fire station was just 200 meters away.

Satish, a local businessman, said that the temporary market had started functioning only half an hour ago. Within 15 minutes everything was burnt to ashes. We ran away with great difficulty to save our lives. Another shopkeeper said that he had invested Rs 8 lakh in his shop. Now all the stuff has been burnt to ashes. District Magistrate Ravindra Singh, who reached the spot along with the SP, said that an investigation has been ordered to find out the actual cause of the fire and assess the damage. Strict action will be taken against those who are negligent. Meanwhile, BJP district president Mukhlal Pal termed the incident unfortunate and demanded accountability for the alleged delay in response. The officials have assured all possible assistance to the affected shopkeepers.
