Modi 11 to visit Bhutan, relations between the two countries will strengthen

PM Modi: During his visit on November 11-12, Modi will meet Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.

PM Modi: Prime Minister Modi will visit Bhutan next week. He will inaugurate Punatsangchhu-II hydroelectric project. Modi will meet Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay to discuss defense relations and economic cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi will visit Bhutan on Tuesday on a two-day visit to further strengthen bilateral relations and inaugurate a huge hydropower project jointly developed by the two countries. During his visit from November 11-12, Modi will meet Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and hold wide-ranging talks with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. The Prime Minister will also attend the celebrations organized to commemorate the 70th birth anniversary of former King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

Will participate in peace prayer festival

The Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that the purpose of this visit is to strengthen the special relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. It said Modi and King Wangchuck will jointly inaugurate the 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II hydroelectric project jointly developed by India and Bhutan. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Prime Minister will attend the celebrations organized to commemorate the 70th birth anniversary of Bhutan’s fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. It said India and Bhutan share a unique and exemplary partnership which is based on deep mutual trust, goodwill and respect for each other. Modi’s visit also coincides with the exhibition of the sacred Piprahwa relics of Lord Buddha, which have been sent to Bhutan from India. The Ministry of External Affairs said he will worship sacred relics at Tashichodzong in Thimphu and participate in the Global Peace Prayer Festival organized by the government of Bhutan.

The visit will further boost bilateral partnership

The Ministry of External Affairs said that shared spiritual heritage and warm relations between people are the hallmarks of this special partnership. The ministry said that the Prime Minister’s visit will further boost our bilateral partnership. There will also be an exchange of views on broader issues of mutual interest. Relations between India and Bhutan are deepening. In September, India had unveiled its plan to build two cross-border rail links with Bhutan at a cost of over Rs 4,000 crore, the first such rail connectivity project with the Himalayan nation. Under this initiative, new rail links will be established between Gelephu and Samtse cities of Bhutan, Kokrajhar in Assam and Banarhat in West Bengal. Which will further boost trade between the two countries.
