Modi said that the new assembly complex spread over 51 acres in Nava Raipur and built at a cost of Rs 324 crore is not just a building, but a symbol of the cultural identity and progressive spirit of Chhattisgarh. Designed as a blend of traditional art and modern engineering, the structure embodies the essence of a land rich in tradition and innovation.
The new building is equipped with modern facilities
Sandeep Srivastava, architect of the new assembly building, said that this building has been constructed keeping in mind the present and future needs and facilities. The ceiling of the main assembly hall has intricately carved figures of rice grains and leaves, reflecting Chhattisgarh’s identity as the ‘Rice Bowl of India’. He said most of the doors and furniture have been handcrafted by skilled wood artisans from Bastar, giving a distinct local touch to the complex. The building is divided into three wings. He said Wing-A houses the Assembly Secretariat, Wing-B includes the Main Hall, Central Hall, offices of the Speaker and the Chief Minister, while Wing-C houses the offices of all the ministers. Officials said that the complex has a state-of-the-art auditorium with 500 seats and a central hall with 100 seats for high-level deliberations. Every corridor, wall and artwork within the complex tells the story of Chhattisgarh.

Modi said the architecture not only reflects the glorious heritage of the state but also reflects its aspirations for a visionary, self-reliant future. He said that this is not just an assembly building. This is the place where the dreams of 3 crore people will take shape. The first session of Chhattisgarh Assembly was held in Jashpur Hall of Rajkumar College (a school), Raipur. After this the assembly was shifted to a government building on the Raipur-Baloda Bazaar Road on the outskirts of the capital. There are currently 90 members in the state assembly. At the inauguration of the new building of Chhattisgarh Assembly, Modi said that India will move forward free from poverty. There is energy of new dreams in the new building. Good governance and development reign in Chhattisgarh. The government has changed the identity of Bastar through development.
