In a podcast, Elon Musk talked about his family’s special connection with India. He told that his partner Shivan Jilis is of Indian origin and he has also named his child after an Indian name.

Musk said in an interview on investor and entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath’s show ‘People by WTF’, “The middle name of one of my sons is Shekhar, which is named after Chandrashekhar.” Elon Musk said that his partner Shivon Jillis is “half-Indian” and the middle name of one of their children is ‘Shekhar’ after Nobel laureate Subrahmanyam Chandrasekhar. Let us tell you, S Chandrasekhar was a famous Indian-American astrophysicist, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1983 “for his theoretical studies of the physical processes necessary for the structure and evolution of stars”.
Jilis studied in Canada
When asked if Geillis had spent any time in India, Musk said she was given up for adoption when she was a child and grew up in Canada. He said, “I think his father was a foreign student at the university, or something like that. I don’t know the details, but that’s the only thing I don’t know… he was given up for adoption.” Shivon grew up in Canada and studied economics and philosophy at Yale University.
Musk and Jillis have four children
Today Shivon is the director of operations and special projects at Musk’s brain-tech company, Neuralink. Prior to this, he has played key roles at both OpenAI and Tesla. His career has earned him recognition in Forbes and LinkedIn’s list of influential young professionals. Musk has four children with Gilis – twins Strider and Azure, a daughter Arcadia and son Seldon Lycurgus.
