A senior police officer said on Saturday that the accused has been identified as Janisur Alam alias Nisar Alam, an MBBS student of Al-Falah University, Haryana. He is a resident of Konal village near Dalkhola in North Dinajpur. He was arrested from Surjapur market area on Friday morning. He said Alam was arrested from Surjapur Bazaar area of ​​North Dinajpur when he was returning from a wedding ceremony to his ancestral home. NIA officials arrested him on suspicion of terrorist links. He told that the young man is a medical student at Al-Falah University, Haryana. He had gone to his ancestral home with his mother and sister to attend a relative’s wedding. NIA officials stopped him while returning after tracking his movements through mobile tower location data.

The officer said that a few days ago there was a wedding in the family and Nisar had come home to attend the function. The officer said that he suspects Nisar Alam’s involvement in activities related to the recent Delhi blasts case. Another officer had earlier said that before being taken into custody, Alam was seen wandering suspiciously near a station in the area. A source in the Central Investigation Agency said that during interrogation the accused tried to escape, after which he was taken into custody. He said that we are yet to find out whether he has any direct connection with the Delhi blast or not. Digital devices and documents have been seized from his possession. The accused is being taken to Siliguri for further questioning and investigation. Relatives and family members said that Nisar is a calm, studious young man. He has no clear connection with any such incident.

The uncle of the accused said that he is a very calm and polite young man. Was always busy in his studies. Didn’t show any interest in anything else. It is unbelievable to think that it could be related to an explosion. Nisar’s mother claimed that her son has always been law abiding and the allegations against him are beyond comprehension. The NIA has not yet officially commented on the nature of the allegations against Nisar or any specific evidence linking him to terrorism. Thirteen people were killed and many were injured in the explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi. The government had termed the explosion near the Red Fort as a terrorist incident. An official said that after the Delhi blasts, the NIA had also raided the residence of migrant worker Moinul Hasan in Navagram in Murshidabad district on Wednesday. An NIA source told PTI that Hasan had worked intermittently in Delhi and Mumbai. He lived with a Bangladeshi citizen in Delhi.
