Goa Nightclub Fire: After the Goa Night Club incident, the police is searching for the owners and investors of the club. In this episode, Ajay Gupta has been brought from Delhi to Goa. Ajay Gupta had described himself as a silent partner and investor in the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub which was destroyed by fire. The police have brought him from Delhi to Goa on transit remand for questioning. Let us tell you, twenty-five people including 20 staff members and five tourists were killed in a massive fire that broke out at this place in North Goa around midnight on 6th December.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gupta, a resident of Jammu, was produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vinod Joshi in Delhi, who granted 36-hour transit remand to the Goa Police to take him to Goa. Earlier, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against Gupta.

Club owner absconds from Thailand

Goa Police has already arrested five managers and staff members in connection with the fire that broke out at the nightclub located in Arpora, 25 km from Panaji, around midnight on December 6. Nightclub co-owner brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra had gone to Phuket, Thailand soon after the fire incident. Interpol Blue Corner Notice has been issued against him. They failed to get interim relief from a Delhi court on Wednesday, which fixed Thursday for hearing on their pleas for transit anticipatory bail.

According to officials, the Luthra brothers booked tickets to Phuket through a travel portal at 1.17 am on December 7, within an hour of learning about the massive fire. While the police and administration were still trying to extinguish the fire and save the staff, both of them left India on an Indigo flight early on Sunday.

Court did not grant anticipatory bail

In court, the Luthras’ lawyer denied allegations that they had eloped, claiming that the trip was for a business meeting and arguing that the brothers were only licensees and not the actual owners of the nightclub. In his bail plea, Saurabh requested four weeks of transit advance protection, arguing that there is an immediate threat to his life, liberty and security if he returns to Goa due to the angry mob. However, Additional Sessions Judge Vandana adjourned the case for Thursday and sought response from Goa Police.
