Bihar Government: To monitor the registered temples and monasteries in Bihar, the Nitish government has decided to appoint coordinators in all the districts to propagate Sanatan Dharma across the state. An official said on Sunday that 38 convenors will be nominated by the Bihar State Religious Trust Council (BSRTC) who will work in coordination with the chief priests of all registered temples and maths in their respective areas. A total of 2,499 temples and monasteries are registered with BSRTC. BSRTC Chairman Ranbir Nandan told PTI that the council has decided to nominate coordinators in all the districts to propagate Sanatan Dharma in coordination with registered temples and maths across the state. He said that the process of selecting a coordinator in each district will start in a day or two and the coordinators will be selected only from among the Mahants (chief priests).
People should be told the importance of Sanatan Dharma
This council, which comes under the Law Department of the Government of Bihar, keeps records of the property of temples, monasteries and trusts registered in the state and also monitors their activities. He said that the coordinators will also ensure that all the registered temples and maths of their respective districts organize Satyanarayan Katha and Bhagwati Puja every month on the full moon and new moon days respectively. They will ensure that all registered temples and monasteries spread the message among the public about the importance of these two pujas. Nandan said that people should also be encouraged to organize this puja in their homes every month. He said that apart from this, the coordinator will also ensure that all registered religious places create a dedicated space for Akharas to practice physical culture. The Council believes that temples and monasteries should also undertake social activities and social reform measures. There is a need to propagate the importance of our festivals, pujas, values and Sanatan Dharma.
Festivals keep Indian culture alive
BSRTC Chairman said that this festival is a living expression of ecological harmony, devotion and community participation. Nandan said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently said that the Central Government is working to include the state’s biggest festival Chhath Puja in the UNESCO cultural heritage list. Our festivals keep the culture of India alive. Chhath Puja is one such holy festival that comes right after Diwali. This great festival dedicated to Sun God is very special. He said that the Council is also preparing to organize an international conference on the propagation of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ in Rajgir in the coming months. He further said that we have also decided to launch a religious calendar in which all the festivals, pujas and other religious activities of Sanatan Dharma will be highlighted. These calendars will be distributed among the people across the state through registered temples and monasteries.
