150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’
Prime Minister Modi had targeted the Congress and accused it of removing key verses from the 1937 song and sowing the seeds of division. On November 7, Modi launched year-long celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of the song, especially among youth and students. Officials said that many important and unknown aspects related to Vande Mataram will come before the nation during the debate. Home Minister Amit Shah will initiate the discussion in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. While Health Minister and Rajya Sabha leader JP Nadda will be the second speaker.
There will also be debate on electoral reforms
The Lok Sabha will also debate electoral reforms, covering all aspects of the contentious subject, including the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls on Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be a debate on election reforms in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday and Thursday. The proceedings of the first two days of the winter session, which began on December 1, were disrupted due to the opposition’s protest over the SIR, due to which the House had to be adjourned repeatedly. The opposition is also ready to discuss Vande Mataram.
