December Festivals List: Only one month is left for the year 2025 to end. Even before this, all the big festivals in October had ended. However, the month of December is also considered important in Hindu religion. Many festivals are going to happen this month also. This month is very special for those observing Ekadashi fast, because Mokshada Ekadashi, Saphala Ekadashi and Putrada Ekadashi are going to fall in December. 1 December 2025- Mokshada Ekadashi, Geeta Jayanti– Devotees of Lord Vishnu observe Nirjala fast on the day of Mokshada Ekadashi. On this day Lord Krishna gave the knowledge of Geeta to Arjun.
2 December 2025-Pradosh Vrat (Shukla Paksha), Matsya Dwadashi– Pradosh Vrat is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Matsya Dwadashi is the birth anniversary of Matsya incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
– Dattatreya Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Dattatreya, who is a combined form of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Annapurna Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the appearance of Goddess Parvati in the form of Annapurna, the goddess of all food and water.
5 December 2025- Start of Pausha month, Rohini fast.– Pausha month begins on this day. Followers of Jainism worship Lord Vasupujya on this day.
7 December 2025- Sankashti Chaturthi– This day is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, on this day devotees observe fast and worship Lord Ganesha, the remover of troubles.
Saphala Ekadashi is the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Pausha month. Devotees observe fast on this day for success and prosperity.
16 December 2025- Dhanu Sankranti, Kharmas starts – Kharmas starts on this day. From this day all auspicious works and marriages stop.
17 December 2025- Budh Pradosh Vrat- This day is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. Devotees observe fast on this day to gain wisdom and knowledge.
24 December 2025– Vighneshwar Chaturthi- Lord Ganesha was born on this day.
27 December 2025- Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti- On this day, the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was born.
30 December 2025- Pausha Putrada Ekadashi/Baikuntha Ekadashi- On this day, devotees observe a fast to have a child and worship Lord Vishnu. There is also Baikuntha Ekadashi on this day. God opens the doors of Vaikuntha for his devotees.
31 December 2025- Kurma Dwadashi- On this day Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of Kurma (tortoise). Kurma avatar is worshiped on this day.
