Maddock Horror Comedy Universe: The public is liking the combination of horror-comedy. Currently, Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Thama’ is making waves at the box office.

Maddock Horror Comedy Universe: The world of horror-comedy is making its mark in Bollywood in a tremendous way. So far, there have been 5 films in the horror-comedy universe of Maddock Films and four of them have made it to the Rs 100 crore club. The name of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s film ‘Thama’ is very recent in this list. Last Tuesday, this horror-comedy film has crossed the business of Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office.

Maddock’s horror-comedy franchise started in the year 2018 with the film ‘Stree’. People gave a lot of love to this film starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao. The first ‘Stree’ entered the Rs 100 crore club on the 17th day of its release. This film had earned approximately Rs 129.83 crore at the Indian box office.

The sequel to this universe of Maddock was ‘Bhediya’, which was released in the year 2022. Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon were in lead roles in this. This film earned only Rs 68.99 crore. That means Varun and Kriti’s Bhediya could not join the Rs 100 crore club.

Last year i.e. in the year 2024, Maddock’s ‘Munjya’ was released, which was based on the folk tale of Konkan, Maharashtra. This film starring Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma and Mona Singh had done a business of Rs 100.03 crore by the 35th day.

The biggest hit of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe was ‘Stree 2’ released last year. This film surprised everyone by entering the Rs 100 crore club in just 3 days. In India alone, this film starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi had done a business of Rs 600 crore. At the same time, this film did a business of Rs 900 crore worldwide.

Now the name of ‘Thama’ has also been included in this list. ‘Thama’ had crossed the lifetime Indian box office collection of ‘Bhediya’ in just 8 days. Now this film is on its way to leave behind ‘Munjya’ also. On the opening day itself, the film did a gross business of around Rs 25 crores. By the sixth day, the net Indian box office collection had reached around Rs 91.70 crore and on the 8th day, ‘Thamaa’ had earned Rs 101.3 crore net.

Maddock’s horror-comedy universe has given four successful films so far. Also, the audience has been given fun in the name of horror-comedy. However, the degree of success in each film has been different. In the coming days, we will get to see films like ‘Stree 3’, ‘Bhediya 2’, ‘Maha Munjya’, ‘Shakti Shalini’ and ‘Chamunda’ in this universe.
