Nepal News: Nepal’s newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki said on Monday that his interim government is committed to conduct general elections at the scheduled time. Karki, 73, became Prime Minister on 12 September. Along with this, the days of political uncertainty came to an end after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was removed from the post after a violent protest against his government over the ban on corruption and social media by the youth -led Jane Z group. According to the Himalayan Times newspaper, in a message on the occasion of Bada Dashain, Karki assured that the election will be held on time of the House of Representatives. Bada Dasai, also known as ‘Vijaya Dashami’, is one of the most widely celebrated Hindu festivals in Nepal.
President wished for peace and prosperity in the country
Giving his best wishes on this occasion, Prime Minister Karki wished peace, happiness and prosperity for all Nepali brothers and sisters in the country and abroad. Prime Minister Karki said that elections will be held at the scheduled time. Said that all people should maintain peace. Said that to solve all kinds of problems faced by the nation, get quick relief from the present situation and provide necessary support and support for the welfare of the entire nation. 1,81,68,000 voters in Nepal
It is to be known that on 23 September, Prime Minister Karki discussed matters related to the event on time of general elections with President Paudel. Soon after the meeting, Paudel issued an ordinance related to the amendment of the Voter Registration Act, paving the way for the names of new voters before the march 2026 general election. On the recommendation of Karki, President Paudel dissolved the House of Representatives and announced the date of holding new elections on 5 March. Currently there are 1,81,68,000 eligible voters for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Nepal.
