UK PM Keir Starmer Visit: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is currently on a tour of India. This journey is considered very important. This is because amidst the ongoing tension with America, the friendship between India and Britain seems to be deepening. While on one hand America has increased the tension due to tariffs, on the other hand Britain has brought relief news. Many trade agreements can be negotiated between India and Britain.
What is the programme?
Starmer is on his first two-day official visit to India on 8 and 9 October. He will give a statement to the media this morning after talking to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. During the visit, both the Prime Ministers will take stock of the progress in various aspects of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in line with ‘Vision 2035’.

Through the Free Trade Agreement signed between India and Britain, both the countries want to rapidly double their mutual trade by 2030. India-Britain has set a target of taking the trade to 120 billion dollars. This includes textiles, leather and agri products. Starmer’s agenda will also include fintech (digital payments), AI, quantum computing and cyber security.

Let us tell you here that after reaching India, British Prime Minister Starmer left from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. He will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai tomorrow and then participate in the CEO Forum and Global Fintech Fest 2025 events organized at Jio World Centre.
Discussion on India-UK vision
His visit will focus on major programs and initiatives in trade, investment, technology and innovation, defense sector, climate and energy, health, education and people-to-people ties. It is noteworthy that during Modi’s visit to London on 23-24 July 2025, he had a meeting with Prime Minister Starmer. At that time both the countries had discussed and agreed on the new India-UK ‘Vision 2035’. This ambitious and future-focused agreement was drawn up underscoring the resolve of both countries to work together for mutual growth, prosperity and to shape a prosperous, secure and sustainable world in a rapidly changing global era.
